We will introduce on this page each month a new and special Teddy Bear of the HERMANN Collection.

To Celebrate Teddy Bear's 100th Anniversary Many stories and legends have grown around the birth of the Teddy Bear. But one way or another, once upon a time - in the year 1902 - it happened, that the Teddy Bear was born. It was named after the US President at that time, Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt, because of a hunting event, which took place in the state of Mississippi. The American cartoonist Clifford Berryman pictured this event in the form of a political cartoon, which was published on November, 16th, 2002 in the Washington Post. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Teddy Bear, we want to tell the story about the Teddy Bear and how it received its name with the help of our "Centennial Series".
